In the spirit of Linux and Open Source, I'm releasing the code under the GPL license. Now I've decided to try my hand at a Linux/cross-platform version.

When I got bored with that, I ported it to Windows and added sound support. Then I added graphical support for the OS/2 Presentation Manager. At first is was a simple text-based simulation of the TI. Instead of doing the smart thing (looking for an existing emulator), I sat down and wrote my own. A few years back, I thought it would be neat to be able to play my old TI games on my PC. 1.11.1 is followed up by 12.0 :)ДЄnd no, this is not an April FoolвЂ™s joke.Well, here's my contribution to the TI-99/4A community. We got tired having the discussion: 2.0 when? The theme for this version will be вЂњwinterвЂќ, something to prepare for. The usual titlegame competition will be announced on the forum shortly. This hopefully makes a lot of things easier in the future, and make the code more inviting to new developers!

Integrating with Steam as GPL-licensed software has challenges, which we havenвЂ™t resolved yet.Д«ut we hope you agree that this new multiplayer experience is the next best thing. Sadly, to set expectations, no integration with Steam itself has been added. No setup needed on your side, no port-forwarding, nothing. They can join your server, just like that. Playing together is as easy as one of you starting a server, marking it either вЂњPublicвЂќ or вЂњInvite-OnlyвЂќ, and sharing the newly introduced invite-code with your friends. One of the things that stood out: playing together is not easy for many players. With our release on Steam not even six months ago we got some excellent feedback from the community on what to improve next. Today I have the pleasure to announce to you that we just released the first beta of our 12.X release series!

In this post, I want to explain in a bit more details how we got here and how it works. Well, I guess in a sense this post is also a fundraiser )ДЄs you might understand, this changes the multiplayer experience drastically, and we felt that waiting 6 more months to deliver that to you is not fair.ДЄs a result: we are releasing 12.0 early! If this changes, we will let you know, and run some kind of fundraiser. This currently covers our infastructure cost, and we currently foresee no issues going forward. Thanks to many of you, we see regular donations. The above will just work, for everyone, as long as you have a working Internet connection.Дepending on your connection, there are some extra infrastructure costs to us, but we hope to cover that increase with donations. There is no need to setup port-forwarding, or anything like that. Playing together are now just four simple steps:Дў) You set the server to invite-only or public.ДЈ) You share your invite-code with your friend.Д¤) Your friend joins your server based on the invite-code. You no longer need to configure anything in your home network. In summary: 12.0 makes setting up multiplayer games painless. With 12.0 in feature-freeze, it is time to talk about what is in 12.0, and why we release early.
